Day #3 - Views on drugs & alcohol

I’ve never been around those that have heavily depended on drugs and alcohol, so I have no preconceived notion, nor is there a stigma associated with either. That being said, I do know of people, friends past and present, that have had an addiction problems before I met them. Both can equally tear a person’s life apart. It’s tragic, yet I think a big part of it is whether or not someone has an addictive personality.

I understand the necessity of narcotics being in the medical field, however the recreational drugs are just ridiculous. The genie unfortunately is out of the bottle and there’s not a lot that can stop a person who demands their drugs. They’re illegal already… for a reason, too.

I think the drinking age is smart, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the age going up to 25. I think the ages for restrictions should be pushed back. Probably an isolated opinion, but whatever, it’s mine.

I myself do drink, socially and rather rarely. I don’t like the intoxicated feeling, nor do I feel it should be used as a crutch or a pacifier. Therefore, I don’t do much. But since I have, I can’t be hypocritical and say oh no, don’t do it and so forth. Drugs are bad, just as booze is.

I’m just a lucky one who doesn’t have an addictive personality or instability that leads me down a slippery slope to either one of these vices.
